What are the uses of BGR 34?

Aimil BGR 34 Tablet is an Ayurvedic medicine to bring high sugar under control in type 2 diabetes. It helps when you feel thirsty again and again, get up often at night to pass urine and stay tired all day. Daruharidra goes in at about three times the amount of any other herb. Vijaysar and gudmar come next. Taken daily, sugar comes down slowly and you feel less tired.

• It came out of two government research labs in Lucknow, CSIR-NBRI and CSIR-CIMAP. Their scientists studied more than 500 herbs and picked six for it. This work won the CSIR Technology Award in 2016.
• Benefits: Years of high sugar slowly harm the eyes, kidneys and nerves. It helps lower the chance of that long-term damage.
• Indications: It is taken along with a healthy diet and daily exercise. It does not replace them. It's also given in prediabetes, the stage where sugar is a little above normal but not yet diabetes.
• Dosage: 2 tablets twice a day, half an hour before meals. In prediabetes, the usual dose is 1 tablet twice a day.
• Side Effects: Most people take it without any trouble. A few get gas or a slightly loose stomach in the first week or two. If a meal gets skipped after a dose, sugar can drop too low. Sweating with shaky hands is the usual sign.
• When the feet start to burn or go numb, Baidyanath Basant Kusumakar Ras is often given along with it.
• Walk for 15 to 20 minutes after dinner. The sugar that rises after food comes down faster this way.

BGR 34 Ingredients

Each coated tablet weighs about 620 mg. Most of it is a dried water extract of six herbs. The figure next to each herb is how much raw herb went into making the extract for one tablet:

• Daruharidra (daru haldi stem): 1150 mg
• Vijaysar (Indian kino tree wood): 400 mg
• Gudmar (gurmar leaf): 400 mg
• Manjistha (manjith root): 375 mg
• Methi (fenugreek seeds): 350 mg
• Guduchi (giloy stem): 350 mg

The same six herbs are also added finely ground, in small amounts:

• Daruharidra: 75 mg
• Vijaysar, Gudmar, Manjistha, Methi and Guduchi: 25 mg each

One more item goes in as a solution:

• Shilajeet Sudh (purified shilajit): 10 mg

A binding base, the outer coating and two preservatives (sodium methylparaben and sodium propylparaben) make up what is left.
