What are the uses of Leptaden Tablet?
Alarsin Leptaden is an Ayurvedic medicine made to increase a mother's milk after delivery. It helps when milk isn't enough for the baby, or comes on some days and dries up on others. The tablet has just two herbs, jeevanti and kamboji, in equal amounts. Jeevanti is a creeper, and kamboji grows as a small bush. Taken daily, it brings more milk, and the baby gets a full feed.

- Ingredients — Each tablet has 150 mg of jeevanti and 150 mg of kamboji. Jeevanti is a strength-giving herb, useful for a body that is tired after delivery. Kamboji works on the womb and helps it tighten.
- Plants only. No bhasma, no metal and no hormone go into this film-coated tablet.
- Benefits — The milk gets richer too. There's more protein, fat and calcium in it.
- Indications — Given when milk hasn't started at all after delivery. Also for mothers who had too little milk with an earlier baby. For them, it's started a month or two before the due date. Dairy farmers also buy Leptaden tablet for cow and buffalo when the milk goes down, though animals have their own version, Leptaden Vet.
- Dosage — Mothers taking Leptaden tablet for breast milk start with 2 tablets three times a day for 7 days. Once the milk increases, it's 2 tablets twice a day for 2 to 4 weeks. After that, the dose is brought down slowly.
- Side Effects — No trouble is known at the normal dose. But the coating has tartrazine, a yellow food colour. Anyone allergic to it should not take this tablet.
- In the first weeks after delivery, many mothers also take Dashamoolarishta for back pain and body ache.
- Feed the baby every 2 to 3 hours, even if very little milk comes. Frequent feeding itself makes the body produce more milk.
