What are the uses of Sooktyn Tablet?
Alarsin Sooktyn is an Ayurvedic medicine made to bring acidity and stomach ulcers under control. It helps when there is burning in the chest, sour burps, or pain on an empty stomach. Mukta Shukti Bhasma, made from pearl oyster shell, goes in at a larger amount than anything else. Kapur Kachali and Jatamansi are added too. Day by day, the burning calms down and the ulcer starts to heal.
Quick Facts
- It has no metal in it. Apart from the shell ash, everything inside comes from plants.
- Benefits: It helps with ulcer pain that wakes you up at night. Slowly, the pain starts coming less often, both in the day and at night.
- Indications: Given for gas, indigestion, nausea and vomiting. It is also used when the stomach lining becomes sore and irritated.
- Dosage: 2 tablets, three or four times a day, in the gap between meals and not with food. On a bad day, when the pain or burning is strong, 3 to 6 tablets can be mixed in water and taken at one go. This can be repeated until it settles.
- Side Effects: No side effects are known at the usual dose. Taking more than advised can dry the mouth and make you sleepy.
- When the chest burns a lot, Baidyanath Moti Pishti is often given with it. It's pearl, ground very fine, and it has a cooling effect.
- Stay away from painkillers like aspirin and ibuprofen while an ulcer is healing. They hurt the stomach lining.
Sooktyn Tablet Ingredients
Each tablet has 337.5 mg of active ingredients:
- Sookty or Mukta Shukti Bhasma (pearl oyster shell ash): 112.5 mg
- Kapur Kachali (a fragrant root from the ginger family): 80 mg
- Jatamansi (a Himalayan herb root): 40 mg
- Ganthoda (pipramool, the root of long pepper): 30 mg
- Khurasani Ajvayan (henbane, a strong medicinal herb): 30 mg
- Kelpan Rakh (ash of the banana plant): 30 mg
- Vacha (sweet flag root): 10 mg
- Datura Pan (datura leaf): 5 mg
What's left is a base that holds each tablet together, plus three preservatives: sodium methyl paraben, sodium propyl paraben and sodium benzoate.
How These Ingredients Help Your Stomach
- Mukta Shukti Bhasma and Kelpan Rakh soak up the extra acid. This is what brings the burning down quickly.
- Khurasani Ajvayan and Datura Pan are strong plants, so only a tiny amount of each goes in. They relax a stomach that cramps and ease the ulcer pain.
- Kapur Kachali, Ganthoda and Vacha help food digest properly, so the stomach doesn't feel heavy after meals.
- Jatamansi calms the mind. And acidity that gets worse with stress settles better with it.
