Moti (Pearl) is considered nourishing, rejuvenating and cooling in Ayurveda. It is also highly valued for both physical and mental disorders. Baidyanath Moti Bhasma is prepared as per the traditional Puta method, of incinerating purified pearl to fine powder.

Moti bhasam, also known as mukta bhasma, with its cooling nature, helps manage nervousness, palpitations, insomnia, irritability, memory weakness, and stress-related discomfort. In Ayurveda, it is highly valued for its effect in conditions associated with aggravated Pitta dosha, weakness, restlessness, and heat-related discomfort.

With its rich calcium content, Mukta bhasma benefits those who are dealing with calcium deficiency and reduced bone strength. Due to its cooling properties, Mukta Bhasma uses in Ayurveda extends to conditions such as acidity problems, burning sensation, nausea and other Pitta-dominant conditions. It also acts supportive in bleeding disorders and helps maintain healthy vision and heart function.

Moti Bhasma Dosage:

60 mg to 125 mg, twice daily or as directed by the Ayurvedic Physician.

According to the disease condition, it may be taken along with: 

  • Honey
  • Butter and sugar candy (Mishri)
  • Gulkand
  • Amla Murabba
  • Chyawanprash

For cough and respiratory issues:

Baidyanath Moti Bhasma may be taken with Praval Bhasma (125 mg) and Chyawanprash.

For Pitta disorders:

It should be administered with:

  • Sitopaladi Churna
  • Durva juice and sugar candy for bleeding disorders
  • Amla Murabba

For brain health and improving intellect:

Moti Bhasma should be taken with:

  • Brahmi Ghrita
  • Saraswatarishta after meals for immediate benefit

For insomnia:

It is beneficial when mixed with:

  • Swarnamakshik Bhasma
  • Butter and Mishri
  • Followed by Ashwagandharishta after meals

For pregnant women:

  • Praval Pishti and Sitopaladi Churna mixed with Moti Bhasma (Mukta Bhasma) should be given along with Gulkand and Amla Murabba.
  • This helps maintain the mother’s health and nourishes the fetus.

For headache and memory loss caused by intoxicants:

In disorders caused by excessive use of alcohol and other strong intoxicants, it is beneficial when:

  • Mixed with Praval Pishti or Swarnamakshik Bhasma
  • Taken with Brahmi Ghrita

In Chronic Fever, Cough and Asthma:

When the body becomes weak, breathlessness develops on walking, and strength declines, the following combination is considered highly beneficial:

  • Swarna Bhasma – 15 mg
  • Praval Bhasma – 60 mg
  • Kanta Loha Bhasma – 125 mg
  • Abhrak Bhasma – 125 mg
  • Mukta Bhasma

These are advised to be taken with Chyawanprash.

For Severe Hiccups:

Baidyanath Moti Bhasma mixed with Swarna Bhasma, Tamra Bhasma and Kanta Loha Bhasma may be given with lemon juice.

During Teething in Children
For fever, diarrhea and weakness during teething in children, Mouktik Bhasma is advised with Rasa Sindoor.

For Improving Eyesight:

Moti Bhasam should be taken with Triphala Ghrita

For Nervousness and Palpitations:

It is beneficial when taken morning and evening with Arjuna Ghrita, followed by Arjunarishta after meals.

For General Weakness:

The following combination is highly strengthening:

  • Swarna Bhasma - 15 mg
  • Makaradhwaj - 60 mg
  • Praval Bhasma - 60 mg
  • Jeeha Bhasma - 60 mg
  • Mukta Bhasma

These should be licked with Butter and Mishri or honey, followed by a cup of lukewarm milk.

Moti bhasma side effects:

Overdose may cause digestive discomfort in sensitive individuals. It can also lead to lowering of blood pressure.
