Praval Bhasma is a calcium-rich Ayurvedic formulation made from purified coral through traditional Puta method (incineration). Because of its cooling nature, the formula balances Pitta dosha and reduces symptoms associated with it such as excessive body heat and acidity.
Pravala Bhasma is a rich source of natural Calcium and hence highly beneficial in deficiency of the same in the body. For the same reason, it helps with managing symptoms associated with disorders of children such as rickets, delayed teething and difficulty in digesting milk. Since Calcium insufficency and anaemia are some of the major causes of hair fall, the use of Pravala Bhasma for hair loss is also recommended in Ayurveda.
The soothing and cooling properties of Baidyanath Praval Bhasma makes it beneficial in Pregnancy as well. When taken with proper Anupana (adjuvants), it helps reduce the risks associated with pregnancy and supports healthy child birth. Praval Bhasma Dosage:
Adults: 125 mg to 375 mg twice daily with honey, butter or milk.
For children: 60 mg to 125 mg may be given in an appropriate quantity.
Special Administration Methods:
For physical weakness, cough, and asthma:
Praval Bhasma can be taken with Sitopaladi Churna or Chyawanprash
For acidity related headache and vomiting:
Prawal bhasm may be given with:
- Amla Murabba, or
- Ghee and sugar candy (Mishri)
In bleeding disorders or bleeding from any body part:
Mix Swarnamakshik Bhasma (125 mg) with Prawal Bhasma or Praval Pishti and consume with Durva juice and Mishri.
For children with whooping cough:
Mix:
- Praval Bhasma - 250 mg
- Shringa Bhasma - 250 mg
- Godanti Bhasma - 125 mg
- Vanshlochan - 125 mg
- Giloy Satva - 125 mg
- Small cardamom - 60 mg
Prepare 4 doses of the above and administer four times daily with Gulbanafsa Sharbat or honey.
During pregnancy:
For cough, vomiting, nausea, anaemia and proper nourishment of the fetus, Prawal Bhasma should be taken with:
- Giloy Satva
- Sitopaladi Churna, or
- Chyawanprash
Additionally, after meals:
- Draksharishta and
- Anantmool or its distillate (Arka)
may be consumed together. This helps reduce pregnancy risks.
In children:
For disorders such as Rickets, low calcium levels, swelling of bones, delayed teething, indigestion-related diarrhoea, inability to digest milk, vomiting and other childhood disorders.
Baidyanath Praval Bhasma is beneficial when taken with:
- Lime water
- Mishri
- Sweet lime juice
For nerve weakness and improving strength:
Taking the following together with Chyawanprash and milk is considered highly beneficial:
- Praval Bhasma
- Abhrak Bhasma
- Makaradhwaj
- Loha Bhasma
Praval Bhasma Side effects:
Improper or overdose can lead to gastric discomfort, nausea, constipation etc. Prolonged overdosing comes with potential risks of Calcium stones and high levels of Calcium in blood that can cause fatigue and Arrhythmia.
