Preparation Process:  Shodhana and Marana:

Step 1 - Shodhana (Purification): Pure 24-carat gold is heated red-hot and quenched repeatedly in herbal decoctions of Triphala (Amalaki, Bibhitaki, Haritaki), Sesame oil, Cow's buttermilk (Takra), Cow's urine (Gomutra), and Kulattha (Horse gram) decoction in order to purify it completely.

Step 2 - Marana (Incineration) : Purified gold is beaten into thin sheets, coated with herbal pastes (Sulphur-based), dried into cakes (Chakrikas) and placed in an earthen pot (Sharava Samputa).
