Product description

What are the uses of Aravindasava?

Dhootapapeshwar Aravindasava is an Ayurvedic tonic made to improve weak digestion in children and help thin children gain weight. It helps when a child doesn't feel hungry, eats only a few bites, doesn't gain weight for their age and gets tired quickly. It is named after the lotus. Munakka (dried grapes) goes in at twenty times any other herb, and dhataki flowers are added too. With regular use, hunger comes back and the child slowly gains weight.

Quick Facts:

  • Ingredients — Khas, utpala (a water lily) and manjishtha are cooling herbs. Harad, baheda and amla, the three triphala fruits, keep the bowels clear, and trivrut is added for the same job. Nagarmotha, choti elaichi and kachur help food digest. Bala and mulethi build strength. Arjun bark is added for the heart. Patol, pitpapda, nili, gambhari, mahua, sariva and mura go in too.
  • It is an asava, so none of the herbs are boiled. They're powdered and soaked in water with sugar and honey, and the dhataki flowers are what start the fermenting. The jar is then sealed and left for weeks. A little alcohol forms in it on its own while it sits.
  • Benefits — It's also given to cranky, restless children who don't sleep well. Jatamansi and vacha are in it for this, since both herbs are used to calm the mind.
  • Indications — Given for children's weak digestion and poor appetite, and for thin, underweight children who don't put on weight.
  • Dosage — Give 3 to 12 ml (half a teaspoon to 2 teaspoonfuls) twice a day, with the same amount of lukewarm water added to it.
  • Side Effects — Few problems are reported at the normal dose. Giving much more than that can upset a small child's stomach or cause acidity. Don't give the adult amount to a young child.
  • Dhootapapeshwar Kumarkalyan Rasa is often given with it when a child keeps falling ill and isn't growing well.
  • Cut out biscuits and packet snacks between meals. A child who nibbles all day never comes to the table hungry, so keep meal times fixed and give the tonic a few weeks.
