Product description

What are the uses of Arjunarishta?

Dhootapapeshwar Arjunarishta is an Ayurvedic tonic to give strength to a weak heart and to control breathlessness that keeps coming back. It helps when the heart races after a few stairs, the chest feels heavy and an old cough won't go away. Every dose has twice as much arjun tree bark as munakka, which is dried black grapes. With regular use, the heartbeat settles and you get less breathless.

Quick Facts:

  • Ingredients: Mahua flowers and dhai (dhataki) flowers are also in it, the same amount of each. Mahua flowers are naturally sweet and help build the body up. It's made in a jaggery base. Sodium methyl paraben and sodium propyl paraben are added so it doesn't spoil.
  • It is an arishta. Arjun bark, munakka and mahua flowers are boiled in water until a strong decoction is left. When it has cooled, jaggery goes in along with the dhai flowers, which get the fermenting started. The jar stays closed for about a month. During this time a little alcohol forms in it by itself.
  • Benefits: Good for people who get worn out by small daily jobs like carrying groceries home or walking to the market. Taken regularly, it slowly builds up body strength.
  • Indications: Given to keep the heart healthy and for common chest troubles like cough and difficulty in breathing.
  • Dosage: 10 to 20 ml, which is 2 to 4 teaspoonfuls, twice a day. Mix in the same quantity of lukewarm water before you drink it.
  • Side Effects: Most people have no problem at the normal dose. Taking more than that can cause acidity, and a few people get mild constipation. People whose blood pressure already runs low should be careful, because arjun bark can bring it down further. It is avoided in pregnancy.
  • Dhootapapeshwar Hrudroga Chintamani Rasa is often given with it when the heart is weak and the chest feels tight even while resting.
  • Cut down on salt, fried snacks and smoking while you're on it. A short walk every day helps too.
