Product description

What are the uses of Gokharu Kadha?

Dhootapapeshwar Gokharu Kadha is an Ayurvedic tonic made to ease problems in passing urine. It helps when urine comes in a stop-start way, the bladder never feels fully empty, and the lower belly feels heavy. Gokharu, a spiny fruit, goes in with six other herbs in equal amounts. One is the root of a hill plant called pashanabheda. With regular use, urine flows freely and the heaviness goes down.

Quick Facts:

  • Ingredients — Darbha and kasa, the roots of two wild grasses, are both cooling herbs used for the urine passage. Dhanvayasa is a small thorny plant that grows on dry land, and it brings down heat in the body. Amaltas pulp and haritaki keep the bowels moving.
  • It is a kadha. The herbs are boiled in water until a strong decoction is left. A kadha made at home gets drunk the same day. This bottled one is different. Dhataki flowers go in after boiling and it's left to ferment, so a small amount of alcohol forms in it on its own.
  • Benefits — Gokharu makes the body pass more urine than usual. That extra flow flushes out the urine passage and helps the body get rid of extra salt and water.
  • Indications — Given for burning or pain while passing urine, and for urine that comes out only with effort.
  • Dosage — 10 to 20 ml, which is 2 to 4 teaspoonfuls, twice a day. Mix it with the same amount of lukewarm water before drinking.
  • Side Effects — Most people take it without any trouble. Much more than the usual dose can bring on loose motions or an upset stomach. It isn't given during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
  • People on Dhootapapeshwar Sarvatobhadraa Vati for the kidneys are often told to swallow the tablet with this kadha instead of plain water.
  • Drink water often through the day. And when the urge comes, go. Holding urine in for a long time only makes the trouble worse.
