Product description

What are the uses of Kutaja Parpati Vati?

Dhootapapeshwar Kutaja Parpati Vati is an Ayurvedic tablet to bring repeated loose motions and dysentery under control. It is useful when thin stools come many times a day with cramps, when mucus or blood passes with the stool, or when food goes out undigested. Over half of each tablet is kutaj bark. Shankha bhasma and nagarmotha are added too. It settles the motions and the gut works properly again.

Quick Facts

  • It is a coated tablet. Kutaj bark is very bitter, and the coating means you don't taste it while swallowing.
  • Benefits: Loose motions that go on for days leave a person weak and tired. There's no wish to eat either. As the stomach settles, the body can keep its food and water again. Hunger comes back. The person slowly feels stronger.
  • Indications: Given for amoeba infection in the gut. Also for sores inside the intestine, when loose motions come along with them.
  • Dosage: Take 1 to 2 tablets twice a day. Swallow them with Kutajarishta, buttermilk or lukewarm water.
  • Side Effects: At the normal dose, most people have no trouble. Too many tablets, or a course that runs longer than needed, can make the stool hard and cause constipation. Pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers should not take it. Nor should people with kidney disease. It isn't meant for young children.
  • Jeerakadyarishta is often taken with it when digestion stays weak even after the motions have eased.
  • Amoeba and most other stomach germs spread through dirty water. Drink only boiled or filtered water for now, and wash your hands with soap before every meal.

Kutaja Parpati Vati Ingredients: Kutaj Bark, Shankha Bhasma and Nagarmotha

Each tablet has 250 mg of active ingredients:

  • Kutaja Parpati: 25 mg
  • Shankha Bhasma (conch shell ash): 25 mg
  • Kutaja stem bark churna (kutaj chaal): 150 mg
  • Musta rhizome (nagarmotha): 50 mg
  • Processed in Kutaja stem bark kwath (kutaj chaal ka kadha)

Preservatives: sodium benzoate, sodium methyl paraben and sodium propyl paraben.

Kutaj is a small tree that grows wild in Indian forests. Its bark has been used for loose motions in Indian homes for a very long time. Here it goes in twice. There's the powdered bark, and the whole mix is also ground in a kadha made by boiling the same bark. Shankha bhasma is made from conch shell. It helps weak digestion work better, so food breaks down properly. Nagarmotha is a grass with small, lumpy roots. It soaks up the extra water in the gut. And watery stools slowly turn firm.

Do's and Don'ts While Taking Kutaja Parpati Vati

What to Eat

Keep meals light and easy to digest. When the motions are bad, eating very little for a meal or two gives the stomach a rest. Rice with moong or masoor dal makes a good meal. Cook with sonth (dry ginger), jeera and fresh dhania. A pinch of jaiphal (nutmeg) in food is good too. Anar is the fruit to pick. Honey can be taken as well.

What to Avoid

Heavy, oily food is hard on the gut right now. So is anything spicy, sour or very salty, and junk food is out. Wheat too. Yes, even roti can wait till the stomach settles. Leave out matar, urad dal and jau (barley). Skip mango, amla, grapes, ber and coconut as well. Garlic, gud (jaggery), ganne ka ras and kanji also stay off the plate. Paan and supari too. Keep away from anything made with khar or soda. And don't gulp big glasses of water, with meals or at any other time. Small sips through the day are better.

Lifestyle

Rest as much as the body asks for. Go to bed at a fixed time and skip late nights. Stay somewhere cool and calm, away from heat and the afternoon sun. Hard physical work and heavy exercise can wait till the motions settle. When the urge for urine or a motion comes, don't hold it back. Avoid too much sex while the tablets are going on.
