What are the uses of Maharasnadi Kadha?
Dhootapapeshwar Maharasnadi Kadha is an Ayurvedic tonic for long-lasting knee and leg pain. It also controls shaking in the body. It helps when knees hurt on getting up, calves feel tight on walking and hands and feet shake at rest. There is twice as much rasna root as most other herbs. Guggul, a tree gum, is used just as much. With its use, joint stiffness goes down and walking gets easier.

- Ingredients — Ashwagandha, bala, shatavari, vidhara and katsaraiya give strength to weak muscles and nerves. For swelling there are punarnava, gokhru, arandi root and devdar. Sonth, pippali, chavya, kachur, saunf and dhaniya help digestion, while harad and amaltas keep the bowels clear. It also has giloy, vach, atis, adusa, dhamasa, nagarmotha, badi kateri and chhoti kateri.
- It is a kadha. A kadha made at home is drunk fresh, the same day. This one has to last a long time in a bottle. So once the herbs are boiled down in water, dhai flowers are added and the liquid is left to ferment. A little alcohol forms in it naturally during this time.
- Benefits — Also taken when pain shoots from the lower back down into one leg. People whose joints swell up and are hard to move every morning take it too.
- Indications — Given for a leg that stays badly swollen and heavy, with the skin turning thick, and for a stomach that feels tight and full of gas.
- Dosage — 10 to 20 ml, which is 2 to 4 teaspoonfuls, twice a day. Mix it with the same amount of lukewarm water before drinking.
- Side Effects — At the normal dose, problems are rare. Going above it can upset the stomach, with loose motions or a burning feeling. Pregnant women should not take it.
- Dhootapapeshwar Swarnamahayoga tablets are taken along with it when joint pain keeps coming back. The tablet can even be swallowed with a dose of this kadha instead of water.
- Shake the bottle well before every dose, as the herb part settles at the bottom. Keep your legs warm, and stay away from cold water baths and chilled drinks while taking it.
