What are the uses of Pathyadi Kadha?
Dhootapapeshwar Pathyadi Kadha is an Ayurvedic tonic made to control headaches that keep coming back, a common nervous system complaint. It helps when sharp pain starts on one side of the head, the eyebrows ache, or the pain grows as the sun rises higher. It has seven herbs in equal amounts. Harad, baheda and amla, which make triphala, are three of them. With regular use, headache attacks come less often and hurt less.
Quick Facts:
- Ingredients — Chirayata, neem bark and giloy are the three bitter herbs in it. They help cool extra heat in the body. Haldi helps bring swelling down.
- It is a kadha. The herbs are boiled in water, and the liquid is strained off once it thickens. Dhai flowers are mixed in after that so it can ferment, and then it is sealed and kept aside. That is why a little alcohol forms in it naturally.
- Benefits — Also used for toothache, and for eyes that feel strained and burn after long hours of reading or screen work.
- Indications — Given for earache and for pain at the temples, including the kind where the temple area swells up and throbs.
- Dosage — 10 to 20 ml, which is 2 to 4 teaspoonfuls, twice a day. Add the same amount of lukewarm water to it before drinking.
- Side Effects — Nothing serious is reported at the normal dose. Much more than that can loosen the stools or cause stomach pain. Pregnant and breastfeeding women are usually told to stay off it.
- Dhootapapeshwar Sootashekhar Rasa Gold is often given with it when the headache comes along with acidity, a sour taste in the mouth or vomiting.
- Eat your meals on time, because an empty stomach can bring this kind of headache on. Go easy on spicy and fried food while you take it.
