Product description

What are the uses of Saptavinshati Guggulu?

Dhootapapeshwar Saptavimshatika Guggul is an Ayurvedic tablet for piles, fissure and fistula. It helps when passing stool brings sharp pain and burning, the piles bleed, or a boil full of pus keeps forming near the anus. Besides guggulu gum, it has 27 other things in equal amounts. Twenty-two are herbs. Five are salts and khar. With regular use, the swelling and pain go down, and old wounds start healing.

Quick Facts

  • It is a guggulu, which means the herb and salt powders are pounded into softened gum again and again, till the whole mix turns into a thick, sticky dough. Every tablet is pressed from that dough.
  • Benefits — It helps with skin trouble that keeps coming back, like repeated boils or itchy patches that ooze.
  • Indications — Given for gas and worms in the stomach, and for pain in the lower belly. It is also used for water filling up inside the belly, filaria (a disease spread by mosquitoes that makes the legs swell), cough with breathlessness and pain while passing urine.
  • Dosage — Two or three times a day, after food, 2 to 4 tablets each time. Take them with Abhayarishta, Mahamanjishthadi Kadha or just lukewarm water.
  • Side Effects — Most people have no trouble at the usual dose. But taking more tablets than advised, or taking it for too long without a break, can cause burning in the stomach. This happens because of the khar in it. Pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and small children should not take it.
  • When the piles bleed or itch badly, Dhootapapeshwar Arsha Hita Tablets are often taken along with Saptavimshatika Guggul.
  • Sit in a tub of lukewarm water for 10 to 15 minutes after passing stool. The warm water relaxes the tight muscle at the anus. So the next trip to the toilet hurts less.

In Saptavimshatika Guggulu, harad, baheda and amla are there to keep the stool soft. Sonth, kali mirch, pippali, pipramool, chavak and chitrak are hot spices. They keep hunger and digestion strong. And both groups matter a lot for piles. Food that isn't digested properly turns into hard, dry stool, and hard stool is what tears a fissure open again and pushes the piles out. Indrayan root helps clear the bowels too. Haldi and daru haldi keep a wound clean while it heals. Pushkarmool is the herb meant for cough and breathlessness.

Do's and Don'ts While Taking Saptavinshati Guggulu

What to Eat

Rice, red rice, wheat and barley. Moong and kulthi dal. Suran (elephant foot yam) is the best vegetable for piles, and drumstick is good too. Cook them with garlic, fresh ginger and black pepper. Have a glass of buttermilk with lunch every day. Cow ghee, unsalted butter, honey and amla are all fine.

What to Avoid

Curd, urad dal and fish. Also heavy food that takes long to digest. Milk and fish should never be eaten in the same meal. Eat only when you feel hungry, and stop before the stomach is stuffed. A few sips of water during a meal is right. Gulping glass after glass, or drinking none at all, both slow digestion down.

Lifestyle

Keeping the area around the anus clean is very important during a Saptavimshatika Guggulu course. Wash with water after every stool and pat it dry with a soft cloth. Keep a set time for meals and a set time for bed. A light fast once in a while gives the stomach some rest. Long hours in hot sun, lifting heavy things, work that leaves the mind tired and too much sex all make things worse, so cut down on them. Go to the toilet as soon as the urge comes, for stool or urine. For burning and itching around the piles, apply Dhootapapeshwar Arsha Hita Ointment on the spot after washing.
