Product description

What are the uses of Amrutadi Guggulu?

Dhootapapeshwar Amrutadi Guggulu is an Ayurvedic tablet for joint pain and swelling caused by high uric acid. It is taken when the big toe suddenly hurts badly, the joint turns red and swollen, or even a light touch is painful. Giloy and guggulu gum are its two main parts. Triphala, sonth, black pepper and pipli are also in it. Slowly, the swelling goes down and walking becomes easy again.

Quick Facts

  • It is a guggulu. That means a sticky tree gum holds each tablet together. In this one, the powders are ground wet with a kadha made from giloy stem, harad, baheda and amla, and only then pressed into tablets.
  • Benefits — It helps the skin as well. Itching that won't stop and small boils that keep coming back slowly calm down with it. Red, rough patches on the skin often fade too.
  • Indications — Rheumatoid arthritis, where many joints swell and feel stiff in the morning. Piles, fissure and fistula. It is also given in diabetes, for swelling in the body and for wounds that heal slowly.
  • Dosage — 2 to 4 tablets, two or three times a day. After food is best. Swallow them with Mahamanjishthadi Kadha, Amrutarishta or lukewarm water.
  • Side Effects — Problems are rare. Giloy lowers blood sugar, though. Someone already on sugar tablets or insulin may see readings fall too low, so test more often in the first weeks. Pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers shouldn't take it. Children below six shouldn't either.
  • Many people with gout take Dhootapapeshwar Gokshuradi Guggulu alongside it, as it helps the body pass more urine.
  • Drink plenty of water through the day. Uric acid goes out of the body with urine, and more water means more of it leaves.

Amrutadi Guggulu Ingredients: Giloy, Triphala, Sonth and More

Each tablet has 250 mg of active ingredients:

  • Shodhit Guggulu, Guduchi shodhit (guggulu gum): 150.000 mg
  • Danti root (danti): 9.524 mg
  • Shunthi rhizome (sonth): 9.524 mg
  • Maricha fruit (kali mirch): 9.524 mg
  • Pippali fruit (pipli): 9.524 mg
  • Vidanga fruit (vaividang): 9.524 mg
  • Guduchi stem (giloy): 9.524 mg
  • Haritaki fruit rind (harad): 9.524 mg
  • Bibhitaka fruit rind (baheda): 9.524 mg
  • Amalaki fruit rind (amla): 9.524 mg
  • Tvak inner bark (dalchini): 9.524 mg
  • Trivrut root (nishoth): 4.762 mg
  • Preservatives: sodium benzoate, sodium methyl paraben and sodium propyl paraben.

Giloy is one of the most used herbs for gout in Ayurveda. It helps calm a joint that feels hot and burning. The gum is the heaviest part of each tablet, and it is there for the joint pain. Harad, baheda and amla are the three fruits that make up triphala. They keep the bowels regular. Sonth, kali mirch, pipli and dalchini are strong spices that help digestion, so the body can take in the rest of the mix properly. And vaividang is a small dried berry. It's given for worms in the stomach, and it helps the skin too.

Do's and Don'ts While Taking Amrutadi Guggulu

What to Eat

Make most meals with jau (barley), wheat and red rice. Sathi rice, the kind that is ready to harvest in about sixty days, suits too. For dal, pick moong or chana. Karela, petha (ash gourd) and snake gourd (chichinda) are good vegetables for these weeks. Cow's or goat's milk, cow ghee and fresh white makkhan can all be taken. Arandi (castor) oil is also allowed.

What to Avoid

Kulthi, urad and matar don't suit this medicine. Don't eat dahi, or sour things like pickle and imli. Sugarcane and its juice should be left alone. Alcohol must stop fully. Beer is the worst of all for gout. Jav khar, a salt made from burnt barley plants, is not to be taken either. Milk and fish should never be eaten in the same meal.

Lifestyle

Rub the painful joint lightly with a medicated oil such as AVP Pinda Thailam. Go gently. Pressing hard on a gout joint only makes the pain worse. A herbal paste spread over the swelling can bring relief as well. Keep away from strong sun and heat. Avoid heavy physical work until the joints feel better. Go to bed at a fixed time each night, and skip the long afternoon nap. Too much sex is also best avoided.
